Raise monsters in this adventure RPG

Monster Tribe is a role-playing title from Boundless Games that takes you on an adventure where you can collect and raise a variety of monsters, much like you would in classic Pokemon games. It’s also quite similar to games like Creature Keeper.

Monster Tribe, along with the other previously mentioned games, requires you to care for your monsters — which are referred to as Ateyan in this game — and provide them with the necessary resources to help strengthen their skills. This is done so you can send them out to battle and explore new areas.

Catch them all

Monster Tribe takes place on an island called Akama, where the Ateyan have long been wiped out and forced into becoming motes of light. As a sage, your character will have the ability to call forth these creatures and allow them to revert back to their original forms. There are up to 72 different creature types to collect, with each one having its own abilities and unique mutations.

In this turn-based RPG, you will have to gather your monsters into teams and battle against other creatures that lurk around the island. The sizable map is presented in an adorable pixel art style that’s quite familiar to fans of classic arcade games or the original Pokemon series. Each area of the map has its own resources that you can collect in order to strengthen your creatures’ abilities.

The resources you find can also be used to encourage mutations for your creatures. While the game does require quite a bit of grinding in order to progress further — especially when it comes to finding resources to level up your monsters’ skills and abilities — the process is rewarding. As you progress through the game, you’ll be able to unravel the lore-filled plotline with twists and turns where you least expect them.

Explore the island’s ruins

With a thick and exciting plot paired with thrilling gameplay that requires intensive strategizing, Monster Tribe offers an abundance of features that make it a worthwhile game to play. There’s quite a bit of grinding to be expected, however, you’ll be able to enjoy exploring various areas with hidden secrets while you’re at it, so it won’t feel incredibly tedious.

PROS

  • Has a large map with visually appealing graphics
